Many women seek to enhance or enlarge their buttocks to achieve a more feminine appearance. A common way to enhance the appearance of the buttocks is to perform a procedure called the ‘Brazilian Butt Lift’. While exercise can help increase muscle mass slightly, and there are non-surgical techniques such as fillers and certain devices, these methods often do not produce significant or satisfactory results. Therefore, buttock augmentation surgery is considered the most effective solution for achieving noticeable, long-lasting, and immediate results. This procedure not only enhances the size and shape of the buttocks but also improves the overall skin condition, making it appear firmer and free from sagging.

Types: BBL & Implants

There are two main types of buttock augmentation surgeries:

• Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) – Fat Transfer Augmentation: This procedure involves liposuctioning fat from areas such as the thighs or abdomen and reinjecting it into the buttocks. The amount of fat injected varies based on the patient’s preferences (average 0.5 to 1 liter per side). Only 50-70% of the transferred fat survives. This technique offers a dual benefit: removing unwanted fat and enhancing the buttocks.
• Silicone Buttock Implants: This option is ideal for patients who do not have sufficient fat for a BBL. Silicone implants are placed beneath the gluteal muscles through a small, hidden incision in the natural crease between the buttocks.

Surgery & Recovery

Buttock implant surgery is considered more complex than fat transfer augmentation. Dr. Tarek Copty is one of the few surgeons in the region with expertise in performing this procedure. The incisions are minimal in both procedures: small punctures for fat transfer and a hidden incision for implants. Patients are typically required to stay in the hospital for one night. In the case of silicone implants, drainage tubes may be placed for 3-4 days.
